Maureen, Dai, 18 anni, scatto foto da circa 3 anni.

La sua attrezzatura?

Io lavoro con una Nikon D90, Nikon EM, e occasionalmente con una macchina fotografica Polaroid 600.

Cos’è per lei la fotografia?

La fotografia è una fuga dalla realtà per me. Si tratta di una forma d'arte che non ha confini e ci permette di esplorare e sperimentare con essa tutto ciò che vorremmo. E 'un altro mondo in cui possiamo scomparire; ci permette di essere immersi completamente in qualcosa di sconosciuto e ci fa sentire come l'avessimo vissuto per tutta la nostra vita.

I suoi soggetti preferiti?

Io di solito scatto foto ai miei amici. Si tratta delle persone con cui sto bene. Generalmente mi sento un po' nervosa prima di ogni scatto, ma sapendo che i soggetti sono i miei amici, mi sento a mio agio e come se fosse un grosso problema.

Cosa fa quando non scatta foto?

Suono il pianoforte ddi tanto in tanto e amo esplorare New York City, dove attualmente vivo.

Qual è la foto che sogna di scattare?

Non ho davvero alcuna particolare foto che ho sempre immaginato e avrei voglia di scattare. Ogni idea che ho è una cosa che sogno di realizzare. E' sempre sorprendente per me quando posso trasformare le mie idee in realtà.

Un fotografo che ci consiglia di tenere d'occhio?

Uno dei miei fotografi preferiti è stato ed è tuttora Tim Walker. La sua fotografia di moda fa assolutamente rimanere a bocca aperta. Lui lo fa apparire una cosa così semplice, nonostante il suo elaborato set-up e le esagerate proporzioni.

Maureen, Dai, 18, I’ve been taking photos for about 3 years now.

What cameras do you work with?

I work with a Nikon d90, Nikon EM, and occasionally a polaroid 600 land camera.

What does photography mean to you?

Photography is an excape from reality for me. It’s an art form that holds no boundaries and allows us to explore it and experiment with it as much as we’d like. It is another world in which we can disappear into; it allows us to be completely immersed in something unfamiliar and makes us feel like we’ve seen it our whole lives.

What are your favourite subjects?

I generally shoot my friends. They are who I’m comfortable with. I generally get a little bit nervous before each shoot, but knowing that it’s my friends who are the subjects puts me at ease a little bit, and makes me feel like it’s no big deal.

What else do you do besides photography?

I play the piano from time to time and explore New York City, which is where I’m currently living. I’m also learning how to crochet at the moment!

What is the photo you'd dream to take?

I don’t really have any particular photo that I’ve always thought about and have been wanting to shoot. Each idea that I have is something that I would dream to take. It’s always surprising to me when I can turn my ideas into reality.

What photographer do you recommend us to watch?

One of my favorite photographers has been and still is Tim Walker. His fashion photography is absolutely breath taking. He makes it look so easy despite his elaborate set-ups and often times over sized props.
